Trauma Wise for Schools

Trauma-Wise for Schools

We are exceptionally proud to offer this much needed webinar to our school communities.

Trauma is particularly challenging for educators to address as leaners often  express their feeling in  ways that aren’t easily recognizable.

Their unease may surface in various ways, including aggression, isolation or learning difficulties.

Trauma has become an everyday occurrence for many South Africans and is not something that can be avoided. We see it on the news, we read about it, we hear about traumatic events happening to colleagues, friends, family and as teachers, often from learners. Some of us have experienced it personally.

There is no denying trauma, but talking about trauma is not as difficult as you may think…

Join Philip for this ‘not to be missed’ webinar where you will learn:

  • How your school can develop the skills needed to “speak about trauma”.
  • What you as a school can do to create ‘safe spaces’ where trauma can be discussed, engaged with and spoken about by staff members and peer counsellors.

A community that understands and speaks about trauma is a community that is supportive and encourages dialogue and communication. Such a community, and the people who form part of these communities, are people that together survive, discover healing, and move towards thriving.

Recovery does not occur in isolation and support from family, friends and community is crucial to helping a victim of trauma move forward and find healing.
