The CCMA Rules have been amended again and these amendments came into effect on 3 October 2026.
The latest iteration of the Rules introduce significant changes aimed at modernising dispute resolution, embracing digital processes, strengthening data protection requirements, and regulating the use of artificial intelligence in labour disputes.
They also give the Commissioners more powers to manage and handle matters, in particular the discretion to allow representation from persons who are not lawyers or trade unions.
These amendments will directly impact how parties manage CCMA referrals, arbitration proceedings, postponements, service of documents, and workplace dispute strategies.
