Cognitive Levels of Teaching And Assessing

Cognitive Levels of Teaching And Assessing

With Educator and Facilitator, Anne Burger

As teachers we are often frustrated when our assessments are skewed, that being too easy or too difficult and thus they do not reflect our teaching.  This webinar is designed to cover:-

  • Bloom’s Taxonomy
  • Barrett’s Cognitive Levels
  • Four Levels of Mathematical demand

In so doing we will discuss the importance of not only assessing effectively using the appropriate taxonomy for the subject you teach, but more importantly using these in your actual teaching.  It will become evident that if we as a country wish to move up from our “bottom of the class” ranking in international standards such as TIMMS, we need to not only use such taxonomies when setting assessments but we need to adjust our questioning techniques when teaching and setting classwork activities.

If used effectively these taxonomies assist the teacher in setting effective assessments that reflect their teaching. The webinar has a practical component where teachers will be placed in breakaway rooms and given the opportunity to apply the relevant taxonomy to their subject.

When booking for this webinar please specify your major subject (Intersen Phase) or what grade you teach (Foundation Phase)
