Lodge Maintenance Manager

Lodge Maintenance Manager – Mozambique (Benguerra)

Permanent  | Market Related Salary

Deep in Mozambique, where the days begin with soft light over the water and end with the hum of a generator settling into night, a lodge depends on someone who understands that maintenance is more than fixing things — it’s the art of keeping a place running so guests feel nothing but ease.

This is where you come in.

  • You’re the person who notices the small things before they become big things.
  • The one who listens to the rhythm of a generator and knows when it’s time for a service.
  • The one who can walk past a solar array, a water system, or a refrigeration unit and sense immediately what needs attention.
  • You understand that behind every seamless guest experience is a team — and behind that team is a leader who keeps the entire operation steady.

As the Maintenance Manager, you’ll work closely with the General Manager, guiding a large team and overseeing every technical heartbeat of the lodge. Your days will be varied: one morning you may be testing water quality at sunrise, and by afternoon you’re coordinating contractors, reviewing budgets, or planning preventative maintenance that keeps the lodge running smoothly through every season.

  • You’ll manage everything from plumbing and electrical work to carpentry, refrigeration, solar systems, hot water, water treatment, sewerage, and generators.
  • You’ll ensure tools are accounted for, stock is controlled, and orders are placed with intention — never excess.
  • You’ll keep records, attend meetings, maintain HR documentation, and uphold the standards that keep the lodge safe, sustainable

And through it all, you’ll fit your work around the rhythm of the guests — quietly, respectfully, ensuring their experience remains undisturbed.

This role is for someone who thrives on responsibility. Someone who is curious, analytical, methodical, and calm under pressure. Someone who can lead with fairness, discipline when needed, and inspire a team to take pride in their craft. Someone who sees obstacles not as frustrations, but as puzzles waiting to be solved.

Most importantly, it’s for someone who understands that sustainability isn’t a checkbox — it’s a commitment. You’ll uphold the lodge’s sustainability programme and maintain a 96% score, ensuring the environment is protected for the generations who will walk these paths after us.

What you bring

  • A Certificate in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
  • At least 5 years’ experience in a similar maintenance leadership role
  • A valid Driver’s Licence and PRDP
  • Strong electrical or mechanical skills
  • A proactive, investigative, detail‑driven mindset
  • The ability to lead, plan, prioritise, and stay steady under pressure

If you’re the kind of person who finds purpose in keeping a place running with precision and care — who understands that great hospitality is built on invisible excellence — then this lodge may be waiting for you.
