Youth Travel Consultant

You’ll design and manage exciting local and international trips for schools, universities, clubs, and youth groups — and sometimes you’ll even get to travel with them. Think adventure, logistics, creativity, and leadership all rolled into one.
What You’ll Be Doing
Create Experiences That Young People Remember Forever
- Build tailor‑made itineraries for youth groups — from sports tours to educational adventures.
- Craft quotes, proposals, and travel plans that are accurate, exciting, and value‑packed.
- Bring fresh ideas to the table and keep products relevant, competitive, and fun.
- Lead groups on tour when required and ensure every moment runs smoothly.
Be the Go‑To Person for Clients
- Build strong relationships with schools, clubs, and youth organisations.
- Communicate clearly, confidently, and consistently.
- Follow up on leads and nurture long‑term partnerships.
- Deliver service that makes clients say, “Wow, we’re booking with you again.”
Keep Operations Running Like a Pro
- Use Tourplan to cost, quote, and manage itineraries.
- Handle Amadeus ticketing at an intermediate level.
- Manage all group documentation — vouchers, rooming lists, itineraries, recon, and more.
- Solve problems quickly and calmly, especially when things get busy.
- Maintain and update Zoho for workflow and client management.
Stay Organised & On Top of the Numbers
- Submit weekly and monthly reports.
- Track profitability and workload.
- Ensure costings are accurate and competitive.
- Assist with payments, creditors, and debtors when needed.
Work With a Team That Loves What They Do
- Collaborate with colleagues across the division.
- Support team leaders with coaching and development.
- Jump in wherever needed — teamwork makes the magic happen.
- Partner with sales and marketing to secure new business.
Build Strong Supplier Relationships
- Negotiate great rates and secure the best youth‑friendly products.
- Understand supplier offerings and match them to client needs.
- Source new destinations, activities, and creative travel ideas.
- Attend workshops, educationals, and supplier sessions.
Keep Learning, Keep Growing
- Stay updated on travel trends, especially in the youth and sports space.
- Attend trade shows, exhibitions, and industry events.
- Build your destination knowledge and product expertise.
What You’ll Need
- Matric
- Travel & Tourism qualification
- 3–5 years’ experience in the travel industry (inbound & outbound)
- Strong understanding of the school/youth travel environment (non‑negotiable)
- Tourplan experience (essential)
- Zoho experience (advantageous)
- Intermediate Amadeus ticketing skills
