Safety at School

Safety at School

School safety is necessary to support the academic success of our learners. All too often we hear in the media reports of horrific accidents resulting in the injury or worse still the death of a child.

A recent article on Mail & Guardian tells of just such a story. In these circumstances, it is the staff members directly involved, as well as the School Management Team headed by the Principal, who are held accountable and in many cases severely sanctioned. This is not only deeply distressing for all concerned, but also causes severe reputational damage to the name of the school. While there are cases of “freak accidents” occurring, the vast majority of these unfortunate incidents could be prevented if certain policies and protocols are mandated and adhered to.

In this webinar, Educational Specialist, Anne Burger will host an in depth discussion around the following points emphasising the staff’s roles and responsibilities:

  • Classroom safety
  • Safety on the playground
  • Scholar patrol safety
  • Extra mural safety
  • Visitors to the school
  • Collection of learners during school hours
  • Tours and day excursions
  • Emergency drills and evacuations
