Lead the Heart of the Reserve’s Operations

We’re looking for a highly skilled, proactive, and integrity‑driven Workshop Manager to oversee the full spectrum of fleet, workshop, generator, sustainability, and administrative operations for a luxury lodge. This role is central to ensuring that every vehicle, generator, and workshop process runs at world‑class standards — supporting exceptional guest experiences and seamless reserve operations.

Key Responsibilities

Fleet & Workshop Operations

  • Oversee all vehicle and plant servicing, repairs, inspections, and maintenance schedules.
  • Ensure maximum turnaround time and minimal downtime across the fleet.
  • Maintain exceptional workmanship and conduct quality control on all vehicles.
  • Test‑drive every serviced vehicle to ensure repairs meet the highest standard.
  • Ensure game‑drive vehicles are always guest‑ready and presentable.
  • Liaise with HODs and Group Fleet Manager on major repairs, costs, and delays.
  • Manage outsourced work and ensure compliance with required standards.
  • Provide regular fleet condition updates and advise on cost‑heavy equipment.
  • Generators & Infrastructure
  • Oversee servicing, maintenance, and reliability of all standby generators.
  • Ensure readiness and operational continuity at all times.

Administration & Systems

  • Month‑end processes, stock takes, recharges, and financial submissions.
  • Manage PAN Start System and QuickBooks allocations.
  • Maintain accurate vehicle files, invoice files, and licensing records.
  • Ensure timely processing of invoices and secure, well‑controlled storeroom operations.
  • Maintain healthy par stock levels and prevent pilferage.

Recruitment & HR

  • Hire, vet, induct, and onboard workshop staff.
  • Ensure all employment documentation, provident fund forms, and HR records are completed.
  • Conduct 3‑month and 6‑month performance reviews and submit to HR.

Training & Development

  • Ensure all staff have the technical skills required; arrange training where needed.
  • Identify growth opportunities and run team‑building initiatives.

Control & Discipline

  • Manage day‑to‑day staff performance, discipline, and workshop access.
  • Uphold &Beyond policies and disciplinary procedures.

Communication & Administration

  • Run weekly formal meetings and maintain an updated workshop notice board.
  • Manage staff timebook, leave cycles, sick leave, and family days.

Health, Safety & Compliance

  • Maintain safe working conditions and ensure proper PPE usage.
  • Ensure all equipment is certified and staff are trained and competent.
  • Maintain first‑aid readiness and emergency preparedness.
  • Uphold all company policies and safety standards.

Required Knowledge

  • Valid unendorsed SA driver’s licence + PDP (essential)

Experience Required

  • 3–5 years’ experience as a Manager in a similar workshop operation.
  • Qualified and experienced in vehicle mechanics.
  • Able to work under pressure while maintaining high standards.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and team‑orientation.
  • Diligent, self‑motivated, and deadline‑driven.
  • Willingness to teach, share knowledge, and uplift others.
